Chapter 3 - Progress update #12

A day early this week since I will be busy tomorrow.

With Label 13 complete and the 3200 render mark passed, we are now on the home stretch as far as the static renders are concerned. My initial estimate was 3200, but the current trajectory suggests a figure closer to 3600. Label 12 is proving to be both more straightforward and more challenging than anticipated. After the initial test renders, I realized that my current GPU's VRAM limit would not be sufficient. I promptly acquired a new GPU, which should enable me to finish all the story events I had planned for the remainder of the game without hitting a VRAM limit ever again. As it has been a long time since the last big set with several characters, I had forgotten that this can also bring positive effects. Posing takes longer, as I sometimes have to pose up to seven characters per scene. However, this also gives me the opportunity to set up more cameras per scene without it feeling too static for my taste. As a result, I have been able to meet my minimum target of 35 renders per day so far. Provided everything continues as it has over the last few days, I should be able to complete this label by the end of next week. The renders themselves are taking longer than those for any other label so far — sometimes a little over an hour per render — but as I have a dedicated computer for this, I don't mind too much until I start the animations. This render backlog should have resolved itself once I reach that production step.

There is one thing I'm sorry about, but it can't be avoided. This week will be the last progress update with preview renders for Chapter 3. I can't share any of the others with you as they contain too many spoilers.

That's it for this time. Until next week.
